Rowe’s Farmhouse is a much-loved family home. Built over 300 years ago in the main, it is a red brick and tile clad Victorian style large 3 storey farmhouse, with several gables, and characterful.

You will receive a warm and friendly welcome from Sally Miller who makes home made preserves and serves a full English breakfast with free range eggs. Guests find the farmhouse calming and enjoy their stays. It is all centrally heated with additional heaters and fans.

The ornate oak door enables you to enter the front porch and then through the stained glass door to the hallway with an inherited carved settle, which is much admired. The oak banisters aside the flight of stairs takes you past a cloakroom, used by 2 bedrooms, to the first floor.

There are 3 bedrooms for guests. They are simply furnished and well equipped with desk, tea and coffee making facilities, TV with digital operation, and comfortable beds with duvets and goosedown soft top pillow, feather under. Fibre pillows can be arranged if preferred.  Surecare sensitive laundering - non-allergenic, non-perfumed.

The largest bedroom (which can sleep 4) can be utilized as a twin or double with quaint ensuite bathroom. It overlooks the courtyard parking and adjacent barns, with views across farmland and a country road. It enjoys early morning sunshine.

A further bedroom offers a double bed with shower and washhandbasin ensuite and shared wc on the floor below. The view is across the garden towards the river beyond a narrow country lane and enjoys sunsets in the evenings.

A single room also has a shower and washbasin ensuite with shared wc on the floor below. It has rural views across a country road.

Occasionally the spare room is also utilized if there is a need, sharing the double door ensuite bathroom attached to the largest/family room. The maximum number of guests is six.

The dining room has a large mahogany dining table and six antique chairs, a mirrored sideboard and ‘dumb waiter’. A personal service is offered with cooking from the Aga so that it is as fat free as possible. Free range eggs are naturally poached and served with bacon, local farm sausages, tomatoes and mushrooms. Freshly percolated coffee, breakfast or herbal teas together with orange juice and a choice of six cereals are enjoyed by guests. A vegetarian option includes baked beans.

Arrangements need to be made in advance for an access key - at the latest by 10 pm - and details of health and safety need to be conveyed but once guests have signed in they are free to come and go as they choose.

Long term stays are very welcome. There is a 10% discount for a stay of 4 or more days in any week.

The George & Dragon is a popular gourmet pub diagonally across the road. Local village pubs nearby offer a choice of food. Public footpaths are local if you would like to enjoy a walk.
